Are you kidding me?

According the "ESPN experts" the Braves don't have a chance against the Astros. 9 out of the 10 ESPN baseball analysts picked the Astros to beat the Braves, with three picking Houston to win the series (3-1) and six choosing (3-2). Alan Schwarz, whom I've never heard of, picked the Braves to win 3-1.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the Braves have homefield advantage, a better lineup, and are better defensively. But I guess the almighty power of Clemens, Pettite and Oswalt is too much. I just don't get it. Obviously some teams are set up better for a 5 game series than they are the regular season, but I don't see it with this matchup. We aren't platooning as much as we have in the past, we have 2 great power starters instead of 5 solid ones, and we have plenty of power. The only thing that could make this team stronger is if Furcal was playing to stay out of jail like he did last year.

The Braves are 5-1 against Houston this year. By the way Brian Jordan (all 6 games) and Raul Mondesi (5) played in those series, so they weren't even facing the best Braves lineup.

Sportsbook.com (tell em beefcakejcc referred you) has the Astros as -120 series favorites with the Braves coming in at even money. Curiously, the Braves are at -112 to win tonight. I've always kinda felt like if the home team won Game 1 it gave them the advantage.

Personally I see the Braves taking it in three or four games. There has a been a different atmosphere in Atlanta all year because of these rookies and I think it will lead to having a homefield advantage again in Atlanta. We only got screwed with one afternoon game this year. So at the very least game 2 is going to electric. Game 2 is going to be a sellout and everyone will be pumped for the Clemens/Smoltz matchup. Personally I'll be sitting down the third base line and ready to take in a satisfying win.

Also here's a humerous look at the Georgia Tech game tomorrow night. I can't believe we lost to them twice in a row. It's like they caught us at the two best times they possibly could in the last five years. Once we had the worst offensive coordinator in the history of time and just came off a crushing loss, and the second time we had to break in first time starters at quarterback, runningback, center, and the defensive back guarding Calvin Johnson.

Ugh. I can't believe Cox is starting Jordan. I don't care if he's a right handed hitter, he's too old to play the field.

ATL already down 1-0 but Hudson got out of the inning with a double play.

Jones boys bringing it, Hudson finally settled down, I feel much better.

However playing Jordan and Estrada is putting you at a severe disadvantage. I'd much rather see Langerhans and McCann

Being a Braves fan just sucks the life out of you sometimes, the 8th inning last night being one of them.

As for GT beating Auburn ... well, quite frankly Gailey has just outcoached Tuberville both matchups. The game this year Gailey had a great gameplan for our o-line and we just ran the ball down the throat of that vaunted d-line. Other than a few busted tackles in the secondary, that game could have been much worse.
