NPR interview with Cameron Crowe talking about movie soundtracks and scores. On my short list of current directors who use music the best I have Crowe, PT Anderson, Tarantino, and in my upset pick John Hughes. I'm probably forgetting someone good, but that's what I got.
Quick thoughts before I get into the meat of the Auburn/UGA game:
- Who is the best offense and defense that UGA has face this year? Vandy or Florida on offense and I guess Florida or UT on defense. I think it's fair to say that Auburn is the best offense and defense that UGA has faced yet.
- That being said I'm not sure if UGA is better or worse than LSU as an offense or defense. Let's just say, instead of playing Auburn this week, if UGA was playing in Baton Rouge at night, who would you pick? How confident would you feel?
- I like that Auburn has crushed every crappy team they've played this year. However, losses to LSU and GT aren't as reassuring.

Auburn may have the best offense??
I don't think it's "fair" to say that Auburn's defense is better than Tennessee's. Tennessee has played one of the toughest schedules of any team in the country this year and their defense has been exceptional in every game.
Which opponent of UGA would you say has a better offense? Technically Auburn has the number one scoring offense in the SEC.
UT's defense has played well this year, but I think they are slightly behind UGA, Auburn, bama, and LSU this year because of their secondary. Which is my opinion but the numbers back it up as well. Though I wish I could see the stats with the Notre Dame not included or points scored on turnovers or kick returns.
I really don't pay a lot of attention to the rankings of offenses and defenses because as you say it's a "technical" stat. Unless teams play the same opponents it really doesn't give a fair comparison. I mean Auburn's offensive numbers look good compared to say Tennessee's but, look at the schedules. Take out common opponents and Tennessee has played U.A.B., Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Notre Dame. Auburn has played GT, Miss St., Ball State, W. Kentucky, Kentucky, and Arkansas.
Auburn may be the best offense that Georgia will face. Georgia may also be the best offense that Auburn has faced. I'm pretty sure it'll be the best defense Auburn has faced.

I don't disagree at all. My point wasn't to make a statement on who would win. I was trying to point out how hard it is to gauge UGA as a team because of their opponents thus far. I would say that LSU is the best team that either team has faced. Auburn went on the road at night and hung tight with LSU. Looking back I don't think fullstrength UGA has been tested. The UT win looked impressive at the time but has lost a little bit of it's luster.
I really can't see this game being anything other than a close one. Much more like 2001 and 02 than 03 and 04.
I agree, unless one of us makes a lot of mistakes, it will be a classic SEC battle coming down to a 3-7 pt. win for somebody.
The early games, LSU/Ala, and SC/Fla. could play on attitudes and emotions in this game but, it will still be war as usual.
I think Wes Anderson (director of Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums (among others) deserves a top spot in your directors list. Some of the music in his films is damn near perfect.
I agree, though, Cameron Crowe is definitely great when it comes to that (but with his background, it'd be disappointing if he wasn't).
